about me

Hi, I’m Anita a Functional Medicine Health Coach from Cape Town, South Africa. The discovery of Functional Medicine for me started many years ago when fertility issues led to a 16 year gap between my children. Realising at the time that something was amiss with my health and not being provided with answers that satisfied me, I started searching.

Aside from fertility problems, I was asthmatic, had digestive issues and caught every cold going around. The colds usually developed into bronchitis or pneumonia and the remedy for this, I was told, was multiple courses of antibiotics and at times IV antibiotics.

My search was to heal my asthma and weak respiratory system and to rebalance my hormones. I spent most of my 40’s trying to do this through books, courses, Google, experts and medical professionals.

I ended up overwhelmed and confused with all of the conflicting pieces of information I had gathered. I was no closer to being healthy or understanding what I needed to do to be healthy than when I first started.  I had come to the realisation that our healthcare system is designed to treat disease and not 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝘂𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘆

In 2017 I discovered Functional Medicine and for the first time I started to understand the cause of my health challenges. Inspired by what I was learning and witnessing the improvement in my health, I started studying Functional Medicine so that I could help others. I wrote my exams in 2022 for my Applied Functional Medicine Certification.

I’ve learnt the art and science of Functional Medicine and now understand root causes and drivers of chronic disease. I’ve learnt how our body systems are integrated and how this creates chronic conditions. My practice focuses on women in midlife 40+, where I teach them how to become and stay healthy. I use a combination of diet, lifestyle and nutrigenomics (nutrient interactions with genetics) to provide personalised health care to my clients.

I’m a graduate of the School of Applied Functional Medicine, a Culinary Nutrition Expert through Academy of Culinary Nutrition and an Accredited 3x4 Nutrigenomics Practitioner.
